Friday evening I had my first, unquestionable, absolute evidence that my DVD workout regimen is working. It was a hot day and I was wearing shorts, and I looked down just as I was shifting my weight to one leg to take a step or something and noticed that there is a slight indentation – the valley between the two quad muscles that run along the top of my thigh was visible for the first time since, er, 2007 when I was working out with my crazy Russian trainer Andrew.
I’ve been doing these workouts regularly since early March, and I’m seeing results now so that’s, what, almost two months? Fine for me, I expected results to take a bit longer since I’m not 25 anymore.
This morning I stepped up to Week 2 on the Jillian Michaels Ripped in 30 DVD. I have competing feelings now. On the one hand, I feel like I’m definitely getting better and some of the moves I can do the hardcore version out of the gate. And other moves are just so far beyond me that I don’t think I’ll ever get there – I’m never going to be able to do a pushup while lifting one of my knees to one of my elbows. Right now I can’t even do it from my knees so I just focus on doing as much pushup as I can without the leg part. I’m still getting a full, hard workout though. That’s definitely not an issue.
