First Week Results

I know you’re all dying to know how I did this week. I did great! I stayed on my program without a single slip! I had 48 servings of fruits/veggies! I had 36 meal replacements. I burned 3,795 calories in physical activity (the minimum is 2000, so I blew that minimum out of the water!). I averaged a net caloric intake of ~800 calories per day (that’s net – total I was averaging 1300-1500 a day so quit clutching yer pearls it’s not a starvation diet).

And for all my efforts I was rewarded with a single pound loss. Added to the first half week loss my total loss so far is 2.3 pounds. Whoopdefuckindoo.


I am accustomed to seeing a big loss the first week. This was not that. This is possibly the smallest, most pathetic loss I’ve ever seen in the first week. This is depressing because it always slows down after the first week. :-O

I was super depressed about it for a while, but then I squared my shoulders and reminded myself that I signed on for 12 weeks, so I’m staying the course and keeping on target to see this bloody thing through for 12 weeks. Regardless of what I see on the scale.

In twelve weeks I’ll either have lost the 10-20 goddamned pounds I wanted to lose, or I won’t, but either way I certainly won’t have gained any weight in that time. I fucking hope. *crosses fingers*

I could definitely use your best pep talk though, if you have one spare lying around…

    2.3 pounds in the first week of 12 is a good sign, since you’re looking to lose 10-20. That’s in the 2-3 pound loss that’s healthy for long term loss, which means that after 12 weeks at this rate you could have lost 28 pounds (but 10 is still very likely).

    I think the less weight we have to lose the slower it comes off. If I wanted to lose 10 lbs, I think I’d be on the same slow track of maybe a lb a week if lucky. A friend of mine has cut out gluten and corn and is following recipes and and advice from a book that Haley Pomroy wrote, a metabolism boosting book. If you haven’t checked it out, might be worth looking into it. I’m trying to lose a few myself. Winter was rough this year. Just starting to cut more carbs out so we shall see if it helps reduce my gut some.

    I love your determination to get things done. 🙂 That said, I can also sympathize with you about not losing as much as you expected the first week. Our bodies are so complex and kind of unpredictable. Hang in there and try not to get discouraged.

    2.3 lbs?? Way to go!! I’m on WW (again) and after all these years I finally worship ALL losses, even the tiny ones. It’s not a gain, it’s not level, it’s a loss! GO YOU! Go put 2.3 lbs of something in your pockets next time you run and see if it’s nothing. It’s enough! And week over week those small numbers add up to big numbers.

    It took me a month to lose my first 5 lbs on WW and dude, I almost did a jig this morning! But I didn’t want to worry the cats, so I restrained.

    My weight loss has really slowed, now that I’m 20 pounds from goal. I’m happy to still be losing weight. My first week on OptiFast I was disappointed in the number of pounds. I thought it should have been more. But when I look back on my progress since June 2015, I can’t complain. Treat yourself with love, eat the right things, and the extra weight will come off.
