Running Log for the Week

I track Tuesday-Monday.

Here’s how last week looked for me:
Tuesday: nothing
Wednesday: 4.6 miles
Thursday: nothing
Friday: 4.6 miles
Saturday: 6.2 miles
Sunday nothing
Monday: 4.6 miles
Total miles for the week: 20

Pretty good week! I’ve upped my miles now so that my regular route is longer than any regular route I’ve ever run. Back when I was running regularly before work in 2004-2006 my regular route was about 3.3 miles. Four miles feels like a threshold to me, below which I’m not really stretching myself.

This morning was hard. My body wasn’t into it at all, and I was hurting – I thought I was going to have to cut my run short. But about a mile and a half in things started to settle down and I finished the full distance. I knew that I needed to power through, because half the reason I’m running again is because it reduces my overall pain levels, and that’s worth a lot of delayed gratification.

The other half of the reason I’m running again isn’t to lose weight, in case you’re curious. It would be nice, but never once in my life have I lost weight, no matter how much I exercised, without making a change to my diet. Which is not a change I’m currently pursuing. Increased fitness, endurance, and conditioning are my goal. Plus the previously-mentioned pain reduction.

That’s awesome, Laina! Keep up the good work. I think I would die if I did over 2 miles 😉

I think 20 miles in a week is impressive. I have Zumba tonight which is a fun hour.

I love Zumba! I used to take a class on Tuesday evenings, but it got too crowded, I had to stop or risk flailing into somebody, it was so tight for floorspace. I wish they would add another class so I could have a Tuesday activity again!

Awesome weekly stats! Exercise actually causes me to gain weight :(.
