I’m back from a camping trip last week and over the weekend. This morning I was talking with my husband about some of the people I’ve encountered in weight loss classes and maintenance. I said that I worried because you often hear people say things like, “I’m going to get back on track next week,” as they diverge wildly from their stated and intended program.
I said that I didn’t understand that kind of thinking and had never been able to apply it, personally. And he said something extremely insightful. He said, “That’s because for you, there is no next week, there is only today.”
That pretty much hits the nail on the head. I don’t and can’t ever rely on what I might do in the future, because I never get to the future – it always stays right where it is, out there beyond my reach. All I know and can rely on is what I am doing right now.
So, right now what I’m doing is working on following my usual, habitual weekday eating and exercising plan, because I am up 2 pounds from my camping trip and today is the day I get it back down again. Tonight is Zumba, so I get to flail like a muppet. That is always fun!
