My Deficit Day – Just Under The Wire!

I made it, just barely. I was doing great – I got my exercise in and politely deflected a co-worker bearing Indian sweets (which I dearly love) on her first day back from maternity leave, but when I got home I discovered that my sweet husband had forgotten about my efforts entirely and made a lamb shank dinner for us.

So I went over to NutritionData and looked up how much damage it would do to eat the whole shank. It turned out to be a pretty big hit, but I had it in my budget because to that point I’d consumed only 1050 calories, and I’d burned 630 in exercise. Yay! Plus a glass of wine and some veggies made an 800 calorie dinner. Much higher than I would have normally wanted, but I could just squeak it under the wire.

So, my gross for today is 1850, minus the exercise leaves me with a net of 1220 – definitely a deficit. Not a big one, but points for trying. Tomorrow will be a better deficit day. One day at a time. It’s a strategy that works for me – I don’t  set long-term months-long goals anymore, I just promise myself I can do it for a day. I will have a deficit day again tomorrow. Building momentum over here!

    I managed to have a deficit day, as long as I don’t succumb between now and bedtime! LOL! I didn’t fall off my wagon once today which is big for me. I kept on thinking about commenting here. Which brings me to the thought that it is good to have friends supporting each other when we are working toward a goal whether small or large. I like small goals that I can manage. I admire your goal and how long you have managed to maintain a happy weight for yourself. So, I look at your result as my ultimate goal and am working on a little one – just 10 more pounds. When I achieve that, it will be the next 10… and then… I’ll be in maintenance!!! Thank you for posting, Laina. Every little encouraging and thoughtful thing I read from you helps me.

      Don’t fall off the wagon now! Me, I’m going to go run a hot bath, grab my book and bliss out. That way I’ll be away from the kitchen until it’s time to go to bed. You can do it! Have a bath! Or something…

    Well… my BMR is 1850. I ate 1600, some walking for -150, 20 minutes of dance game for another -150. That leaves 1300. So a deficit of 550. Yay!
